Achieving Success in the Construction Industry

My Business

I have a vast amount of experience in construction surety brokerage and consultation, and I once worked for two of the largest construction brokers in the Tri-State Area. My career has been built on hard work and desire, and I enjoy having solid relationships with contractors, accountants, and lawyers.

Fred joined Construction Risk Partners in January of 2011 and is responsible for leading the New York office's expansion of its surety business. He possesses almost a quarter century of construction surety brokering and consultation experience, working for two of the largest construction brokers in the tri-state area during this period.

Growing up in a family construction business, Fred developed a passion for the construction business as well as a personal understanding of the importance of strong management. Studies at Alfred University in Business Administration and Accounting, afforded him a spot with The Bank of New York as Commercial Credit Trainee. Upon concluding the BNY training program, Fred transitioned to Atlantic Bank of New York, where primary responsibilities included credit analysis and recommendations to loan committees for the bank's client base in construction lending.

Fred started his surety career, with Seaboard Surety Company in 1986. Fred worked in the company's flagship New York City office where his responsibilities included maintaining a book of existing surety accounts and developing of new stable of clients.

Fred left Seaboard in the summer of 1988 to join Corroon & Black / Contractor's Planning Group. Fred followed many iterations of the company (including Willis and Aon), essentially staying with this team for fourteen years. In 2002, Fred left Aon to join Allied North America and many loyal, longtime clients followed with him. In January 2010, Aon Risk Services purchased Allied North America. In January 2011, Fred again left Aon to become a Partner with Construction Risk Partners to help launch their New York City office.

Fred masterfully cultivates and builds strong relationships by integrating his experience with construction, credit and surety to form trust based relationships with his clients. He has committed his entire career and life to construction and is proud of his many accomplishments. This is evident by those that have done business with him, and some of the significant projects/owners Fred has successfully worked with in his career:

  • Some of the tallest concrete buildings in NYC including AOL Time Warner, Eleven Times Square, 400 5th Ave., Beekman Tower and WTC III.
  • Major airport expansions at all three of NYC's large airports (Newark, JFK and LaGuardia). Projects include Terminal One, American Airlines, Delta and British Airways.
  • World Trade Center redevelopment activities include WTC's Towers 7, 4 and 3, PATH station and tunnels, WTC Memorial, Transit HUB, and Pavilion Complex.
  • Federal Projects with GSA (Court Houses), Corp of Engineers (Defense Work), and Military bases Country wide.
  • Many Heavy/highway projects have been bonded with DOT, DDC, DEP, OGS, TBTA and MTA.
  • Numerous sophisticated trade contracts have been arranged for bond issuance, where others were unsuccessful.

Fred is a leader in the New York construction surety and credit marketplace. He has tremendous relationships with contractors, accountant and lawyers, and has a career built on hard work, passion and a tremendous appreciation for his role in the business. Fred is active in many construction associations and is very active in his community. He is the mayor of his village and is Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) for Port Washington, New York.
