Personal Values of a Police Commissioner Candidate
First of all, I believe that people should have the freedom to do what they think is best. However, they should also be held accountable for their actions. For instance, let’s talk about road safety. I believe that we should not be ticketing drivers who aren’t wearing seat belts—rather, they should make it a personal decision to become responsible for their safety.
One huge threat to road safety has been the emergence of mobile phones. People tend to text and drive, and this is something authorities should immediately address. However, implementing such a measure should be on a level playing field. We can’t just give tickets to a select group of motorists while disregarding other drivers who also text while they’re on the road.
Having lived in the area my entire life, I simply want to do what is best for the community I love. In the event I am granted the privilege to serve as your commissioner, I will move mountains to maintain the peace and order of Port Washington as well as maintain the integrity of our police force.
